Kazakh Diplomats in Malaysia Commemorate the Heroes of the Second World War

Kuala Lumpur, May 9, 2025 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Malaysia, Bulat Sugurbayev, took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument to Soviet Soldiers in Kuala Lumpur.

The event, held in solemn remembrance of the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II, honored the heroic sacrifices of those who gave their lives for peace and freedom.

The ceremony was attended by ambassadors and diplomats from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Words of gratitude and deep appreciation were expressed for those who made an invaluable contribution to the defeat of fascism.

During the war, Kazakhstan sent more than 1.2 million men and women to the front – nearly 20% of the population of the Kazakh SSR at the time. Over 200 evacuated factories were relocated to Kazakhstan, where they played a crucial role in supplying the army with weapons, equipment, and provisions.
