Athens, May 9, 2025 – In honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the World War II (Great Patriotic War), a wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument to the Soviet Soldier was held in Athens, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Hellenic Republic. The event was attended by Ambassador Timur Sultangozhin, diplomats and staff of the Embassy, as well as representatives of the Kazakh diaspora.
The ceremony commemorated millions of Kazakhstan people who made outstanding contributions to the fight against fascism. Kazakhstan formed 12 rifle and 4 cavalry divisions, 7 rifle brigades, and approximately 50 separate regiments and battalions.
In his speech, Ambassador Sultangozhin emphasized the significance of the Kazakhstan people’s contribution to the Great Victory, noting that “preserving the memory of our ancestors’ heroic deeds is our sacred duty to future generations.”
