
Geneva, April 3-4, 2025 – The Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan to the United Nations Office in Geneva marked Nauryz, the traditional spring festival, with two special events showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Kazakhstan.
On April 3, 2025, the Mission joined a grand official reception co-organized with Afghanistan, India, Iran, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Held in Geneva, this vibrant celebration welcomed over 1,500 guests, including heads of international organizations, representatives of the diplomatic corps, members of International Geneva, and Kazakh citizens residing in the city. Guests enjoyed an array of traditional treats, reflecting the diversity and warmth of Central Asian hospitality.
The festivities continued on April 4, 2025, at the premises of the Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan, where a gathering of distinguished guests – including Director-General of UN Office in Geneva Tatiana Valovaya, Director General of International Labour Organization Gilbert Houngbo, Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Jagan Chapagain, and heads of other international organizations, citizens and friends of Kazakhstan in Geneva – took place. In his opening remarks Kazakhstan’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Yerlan Alimbayev extended his congratulations to the audience, celebrating the spirit of renewal and unity that Nauryz embodies.
Following the remarks, guests enjoyed a performance by professional ensembles from Aktobe region, featuring the Dostyk Sazy ensemble under the management of Dauren Gylymov, alongside singers and dancers from the Akku group. The event concluded with a tasting of national dishes, offering a flavorful glimpse into Kazakh traditions.
Both events highlighted Kazakhstan’s commitment to promoting its rich cultural heritage on the international stage.
