Partnership and Experience Exchange with Kazakhstan in the Field of Venture Investments Discussed in Athens

Athens, April 2, 2025 – The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Greece, Timur Sultangozhin, held negotiations with the Chief Executive Officer of the Hellenic Development Bank of Investments (HDBI), Antigoni Limperopoulou. During the meeting, they discussed the prospects for economic and technological cooperation between Kazakhstan and Greece, including issues of venture investments, joint initiatives for the development of the IT industry, and the exchange of experience in financing innovation.

The Kazakh diplomat emphasized the priority significance of developing the IT sector in the Republic of Kazakhstan, noting the country’s efforts to create a favorable ecosystem for startups, expand IT exports, and develop fintech. In this field, Kazakhstan is demonstrating significant success and has already achieved the position of regional leader in introducing digital financial technologies and increasing the number of fintech companies.

He also highlighted the important role of initiatives such as Astana Hub, Alem.AI, the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), and the Neo Nomad Visa, which have become key tools for attracting international companies and startups, expanding Kazakhstan’s technology market, and promoting innovation. The Ambassador underscored that these projects create unique opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors, facilitating Kazakhstani startups’ entry into global markets, stimulating an inflow of foreign specialists, and contributing to the development of advanced technologies in the country.

Both sides expressed mutual interest in participating in specialized forums and conferences in Kazakhstan and Greece, attracting international experts, and developing strategic partnerships in the field of innovation. Special attention was paid to the exchange of experience regarding the Venture Fund of Funds (Qazaqstan Venture Group), operating within the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC).

The Hellenic Development Bank of Investments (HDBI) invests in projects aimed at supporting entrepreneurship and sustainable economic growth. HDBI’s portfolio exceeds 2 billion euros and covers various sectors, including innovation and technology.
