Screening of Kazakh Films Highly Appreciated in the Capital of Sweden

Stockholm, November 23-24, 2024 – The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Sweden organized the screening of three Kazakh films to celebrate the Republic Day of Kazakhstan. The event took place at the Stockholm Film Institute and gathered about 150 guests, including representatives of the diplomatic corps, cultural, artistic and public figures, the Kazakh diaspora, and fans of Dimash Qudaibergen in Sweden.

In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Sweden Olzhas Suleimenov highlighted the significance of the Republic Day and emphasized the important role of cinema as a tool of cultural diplomacy, helping to promote Kazakhstan's culture abroad, strengthening cultural cooperation with Sweden, and presenting the rich heritage and modern achievements of Kazakh cinematography. The Kazakh diplomat also noted the significant role of the Kazakh diaspora in Sweden, whose representatives contribute to the expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties between the peoples.

On the first day of the screening, the audience watched “Tomiris”, a film that generated great interest and provided deeper insight into the rich history of the Kazakh people and their contribution to world civilization. On the second day, two contemporary films were shown: “Ademoki’s Education”, a touching story addressing themes of upbringing and education, and “Bauryna Salu”, that nominated for Oscar from Kazakhstan.

As part of the event, “Kazakhstan Born Bold” campaign was presented to the audience, that promotes the unique image of Kazakhstan as a modern, dynamically developing country with a rich historical and cultural heritage. The initiative aroused interest among the guests, emphasising Kazakhstan’s openness to the world and its readiness for cooperation across diverse areas.

The event received positive feedback, with attendees praising the high artistic level of the films as well as the originality and depth of Kazakhstan’s cinematography. Guests expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn about Kazakhstan’s culture in such a creative and inspiring way.
