Seoul, November 1, 2024 – The grand opening of a cultural exchange exhibition between Kazakhstan and South Korea took place in a central Seoul gallery. Organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Korea in collaboration with Diplomacy Journal, the event brought together representatives of the diplomatic community, figures in art and culture, and a wide array of interested visitors.
Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Nurgali Arystanov delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing that the exhibition celebrates Kazakhstan’s tourism potential and cultural heritage. Ambassador Arystanov highlighted the importance of cultural exchange in fostering mutual understanding and strengthening bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Korea. He also noted the key milestones of 2024, including Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol’s state visit to Kazakhstan in June and the visit of National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik in October. These visits, alongside the upcoming ministerial meeting of the C5+K cooperation forum, lay a strong foundation for further bilateral engagement, especially in cultural and tourism sectors.
The exhibition features approximately 40 photographs showcasing Kazakhstan’s cultural landmarks, natural landscapes, and tourism potential. Among the exhibits are photographs from the 5th World Nomad Games held in Astana in September this year, where 2800 athletes from 89 countries, including South Korea, participated. These images underscore the significance of cultural exchange and symbolize the deepening ties between the people of Kazakhstan and Korea. Additionally, artworks by Kazakh and Korean artists are displayed.
A special moment of the event was the awarding of a scholarship to Kazakh student Tazabek Alan, who is studying at the Yonsei University. The award was presented by Diplomacy Journal Chairman Lee Jong-yong, who praised the student’s active participation in efforts to strengthen cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Korea.
The exhibition runs through November 5, offering visitors a chance to explore unique displays that contribute to building cultural connections and broaden understanding of the rich heritage shared by Kazakhstan and Korea.
