Round Table on Kazakhstan President’s State of the Nation Address Held in Bangkok

Bangkok, September 16, 2024 – A round table was held in Bangkok to discuss the main points of the State of the Nation Address by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, titled “Just Kazakhstan: Law and Order, Economic Growth, Social Optimism.” The event gathered representatives from the government, business, academia, and media of Thailand.

During the event, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Thailand, Arman Issetov, introduced the participants to the key aspects of the President’s State of the Nation Address. These include developing industrial potential, ensuring economic growth, improving the investment climate, addressing infrastructure issues, enhancing human resources, providing social support to citizens, improving environmental conditions, increasing the effectiveness of government administration, and ensuring the rule of law and order in the country.

It was particularly noted that 2024 has been one of the most productive years in the history of bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Thailand. The Kazakh diplomat shared significant results of bilateral cooperation over the past year and highlighted that economic ties between countries have strengthened, reflected in a significant increase in bilateral trade. In 2023, a record trade volume for three decades was achieved. Thai business delegations are actively visiting Kazakhstan, aiming for joint projects and entry into the Central Asian and Eurasian Economic Union markets.

Participants of the round table expressed deep interest in the current transformations in Kazakhstan and noted the relevance of the issues raised by the President in his Address. The representative of the scientific community of Thailand, Dr. Nawasit Rakbamrung, shared his view on Address and noted: “President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s Address clearly demonstrates strategic vision and determination in creating a prosperous Kazakhstan. We particularly admire how the country is actively advancing in education and digitalization, which opens new horizons for sustainable growth and improving the quality of life for citizens. Your efforts in these areas are inspiring and confirm that Kazakhstan is moving in the right direction. We are genuinely interested in cooperation in the educational field and believe that our joint efforts can yield significant results.”

The round table served as a platform for discussing successful cooperation and future directions of joint work between Kazakhstan and Thailand, as well as for a deeper understanding of the political reforms taking place in both countries. Participants expressed their readiness to further strengthen ties and implement new initiatives.
