Members of the Polish Parliament Welcome Kazakhstan’s Aspirations

Warsaw, September 13, 2024 – A meeting with the deputies of the newly elected parliamentary group “Kazakhstan-Poland” was held in the Polish Sejm. The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Poland Alim Kirabayev informed the Polish deputies about the main provisions of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s State of the Nation Address.

Their attention was drawn to the upcoming national referendum in the country on the construction of a nuclear power plant and Kazakhstan’s commitment to the principle of making important state decisions on the basis of national consensus. The use of the “peaceful atom” in the interests of the country’s energy independence and the plebiscite itself aroused the keen interest of the Polish deputies, as Poland also intends to build the country’s first nuclear power plant.

The importance of measures taken by Kazakhstan to create conditions for cooperation with Poland and the countries of the European Union in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres as one of the key links between Europe and Asia was noted.

During the meeting with deputies of the Sejm and the Senate of Poland, agreements were reached on the intensification of interparliamentary cooperation. The chairman of the parliamentary group, Deputy of the Sejm Barbara Bartuś expressed interest in a visit to Kazakhstan as part of the group, as well as a reciprocal reception in Warsaw of Kazakh deputies who are members of the group for interaction with Poland.

At the same time, Barbara Bartuś voiced the initiative to organize a screening of the film “Uly dala tany” (“Dawn of the Great Steppe”) for members of the Sejm, which was previously presented by the Embassy of Kazakhstan to Polish viewers.
