St. Moritz, August 29, 2024 – The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Switzerland Kairat Sarzhanov met with Swiss athlete Andri Marugg, who will be participating in the upcoming World Nomad Games in Kazakhstan. The Swiss athlete will compete in the discipline of “Zhamby Atu”, including the “Hungarian Style”, which involves horseback archery.
In preparation for the competition, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan emphasized the significance of the Swiss athlete’s participation in the Games and the role of this sporting event in strengthening cultural ties between nations.
In his turn, Andri Marugg expressed his gratitude to the Kazakh side for the invitation and organization of the Games and noted his genuine interest in the rich heritage and traditions of nomadic culture.
The Fifth World Nomad Games, organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, UNESCO, and the Organization of Turkic States, will take place in Astana from September 8-13, 2024, under the slogan “The Gathering of the Great Steppe” and will aim to promote ethno-sport and ethno-cultural movements. Competitions in 21 sports, including horse racing, wrestling, intellectual games, martial arts, archery, and falconry, will be held at the capital’s main sports venues.
