Ashgabat, May 18, 2024 – A monument to the great Kazakh kuishi composer Kurmangazy Sagyrbayuly, whose work was closely intertwined with the history and culture of the peoples of Central Asia, was unveiled on the territory of the Ashgabat Park complex dedicated to the national poet and philosopher of Turkmenistan Makhtumkuli Fragi.
The park is located on the southern outskirts of Ashgabat, at the foot of the Kopetdag mountain range, which separates Turkmenistan from Iran.
The opening ceremony of the monument was attended by heads and staff of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan.
During the solemn event, the director of the Makhtumkuli National Musical and Drama Theater Mekan Zhumabayev, accompanied by one of the most popular works of Kurmangazy – kuy “Adai” performed by the teacher of the Maiya Kulieva National Conservatory, Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Osman Gudzhimov, read the poems of Shabaz Imanaliev “Kurmangazy”.
