Switzerland Promotes the Attraction of Advanced European Technologies to Kazakhstan

Zurich, May 17, 2024 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Switzerland Kairat Sarzhanov took part in the signing ceremony of the contract between the Kazakh company “Rail Go” and the German “WAGNER Rail” for equipping Swiss passenger cars produced in Kazakhstan by Swiss “Stadler Rail” with fire protection system.

National company “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” together with the Swiss manufacturer of railway rolling stock “Stadler Rail” is implementing a project to assemble modern and comfortable passenger cars in Kazakhstan.

Kazakh diplomat congratulated the parties on signing the agreement, noting the importance of attracting new European partners to the Kazakh market. He stressed the strategic importance of the Kazakh-Swiss project in strengthening the industrial and infrastructural development of Kazakhstan in the field of transport and logistics, as well as improving the technical condition of the car fleet of the Republic of Kazakhstan, improving passenger safety and comfort.

The Agreement on strategic cooperation between Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and Stadler Rail was signed on November 29, 2021 during the official visit of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Switzerland. In December 2022, KTZh and Stadler Rail signed long-term contracts for the supply of 537 wagons, their maintenance for 20 years and localization of production.
