Tel Aviv, May 10, 2024 – The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Israel participated in memorial events dedicated to Victory Day.
Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Israel Daulet Yemberdiyev attended a ceremony in Jerusalem commemorating the victims of the Holocaust, with the participation of official authorities, Israeli veteran and public organizations, Knesset members, and diplomatic corps.
The ambassadors of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia, representatives of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and public organizations laid wreaths at the monument to the heroic defenders and residents of the besieged Leningrad, the “Candle of Memory” in Jerusalem.
The heads of diplomatic missions also participated in a festive event organized by the Mayor of Netanya, Miriam Feierberg-Ikar, at the Monument to the Victory of the Red Army over Nazi Germany.
In addition, Kazakh diplomats paid tribute to the memory of the warriors and heroes of the Great Patriotic War through ceremonies and wreath-laying initiatives organised by the municipalities of several Israeli cities.
Victory Day on May 9th has been declared a state holiday in Israel from 2017 and has since been widely celebrated by the government, local authorities, and public organizations.
In Israel, the contribution of Kazakhstan to the Victory is highly appreciated, and Kazakhs are regarded with great respect. Israeli veterans and descendants of war participants warmly and gratefully shared memories of Kazakhstan and the Central Asian republics, which sheltered and saved many thousands of evacuated Jews during the difficult years of the war.
