Berdibek Sokpakbayev’s 100th Anniversary Celebrated in the Capital of Türkiye

Ankara, April 29, 2024 – The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Türkiye, the international organization TURKSOY and the Akimat of Almaty region organized an exhibition, conference and concert of Akjauın orchestra dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the outstanding writer Berdibek Sokpakbayev.

The exhibition presented archival photos of the writer, clothes, glasses, belts, and other personal belongings that were specially brought from Kazakhstan.

The delegation which led by the First Deputy Mayor of Almaty region N. Abdrahim, Chairman of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan M. Kulkenov, Head of the Eurasian Association of Writers in Türkiye Y. Ömeroğlu, professors of the Haci Bayram Veli University of Ankara C. Kınacı H. Varol and many other representatives of education and diplomatic missions took part in the conference dedicated to Berdibek Sokpakbayev.

During the conference, Berdibek Sokpakbayev’s contribution to children’s literature, comparison of political and literary portraits, famous works “Dead Do Not Return”, and “Journey to Childhood” were discussed. The participants were particularly interested in the fact that the script of the movie “My Name is Kozha”, which received a special prize in 1967 at the International Festival of Children’s and Youth Films in Cannes, France, was written by Berdibek Sokpakbayev.

The concert of Akjauın orchestra was held at the highest level. Kazakh artists performed unique works of national music. A special atmosphere was given to the hall by the performance of the famous Kazakh kuishi, composer, Honored Artist of Kazakhstan Seken Turysbek.
