Washington, March 19, 2024 – The Embassy of Kazakhstan in the United States of America hosted a reception in honor of the celebration of Nauryz under the new concept of “Nauryznama.” The event was attended by representatives from the U.S. White House, Congress, Department of State, expert community, and the American business.
Opening the evening, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United States, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, emphasized that this year the celebration of this sacred holiday for the Turkic peoples is held in a new format. He noted the main messages from the speech of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan,
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at the meeting of the National Kurultai on the importance of social and cultural reforms.
Ambassador Ashikbayev highlighted that in the festive period beginning with Korisu kuni, each day now has its own name. One of them is dedicated to the national dress, by which we should be recognized in the world. This concept, along with the popularization of elements of national identity, symbolizes a return to the cultural code of the country.
The celebration continued with a concert program featuring talented Kazakh students performing Kazakh dances, works of great Kazakh composers on violin, piano, and dombyra. A bright moment was treating guests to Nauryz-kozhe, prepared in accordance with ancient traditions, which gave the holiday a special atmosphere and flavor.
