Mexican Business Circles Confirmed their Interest in Broad Cooperation with Kazakhstan

Mexico City, March 12, 2024 – The Kazakh-Mexican Business Forum took place in the capital of Mexico. The event was organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan and the Honorary Consulate of our country in Guadalajara jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico.

The central topics of the business forum with the participation of representatives of ministries and departments of Mexico, the capital's mayor's office, chambers of commerce and industry and exchanges, the business community and expert circles, were the deepening and expansion of trade, economic and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Mexico, as well as participation in the upcoming Astana International Forum in June this year in the capital of Kazakhstan.

Mexican business was represented by the largest companies, among which can be noted such giants of the food industry and telecommunications sector as the international group “Bimbo” and the “Salinas” corporation.

According to Kazakh statistics, in 2023 trade turnover between Mexico and Kazakhstan exceeded 500 million US dollars, which is 150% more than in 2022. It should be noted that over the past few years there has been a steady increase in bilateral trade.

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Mexico Timur Primbetov, giving a speech at the Forum, paid much attention to the issues of promoting Kazakh exports to the Mexican market, as well as establishing direct contacts between entrepreneurs of the two countries.

Participants of the event were also informed in detail about the measures taken by the Government of Kazakhstan to stimulate the influx of foreign investment, improve the business environment and tax climate, develop entrepreneurship, and modernize infrastructure as part of the implementation of the new economic policy proposed by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Director General for Africa, Central Asia and the Middle East of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico Jose Octavio Tripp Villanueva in his speech especially emphasized that Kazakhstan is a key political and economic partner of Mexico in Central Asia. Speaking about the development of economic ties, the senior Mexican diplomat noted the great potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas of common interest.

The focus was also on the participation of the Mexican side in the Astana International Forum.

Director of Communications of the Mexican stock exchange “BIVA” Salvador Leal, who took part in the Astana International Forum in 2023 as a moderator, highly appreciated the level of its organization, especially noting that the capital of Kazakhstan these days is becoming a global platform for a thorough exchange of views on the most pressing issues of world politics and economics. Salvador Leal also drew attention to the fact that Kazakhstan has created the most favorable conditions for doing business and attracting foreign direct investment, emphasizing that in these indicators Kazakhstan is ahead of many European countries.

During the discussion Business Forum participants noted good prospects for establishing cooperation in the IT sector and tourism. In the opinion of Mexican experts, interaction in these areas will be a significant addition to the already established trade and economic ties between Kazakhstan and Mexico.

In general, Mexican businessmen were unanimous in the opinion that economic cooperation with Kazakhstan has enormous potential and broad prospects.
