Minister of justice of Greece was briefed on the human rights situation in Kazakhstan

Athens, November 2, 2023 – Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Hellenic Republic Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev met the Minister of Justice of the Hellenic Republic Georgios Floridis and parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of combating crime, ensuring the rule of law and international security.

Ambassador Y. Baudarbek-Kozhatayev informed the Minister about the comprehensive political reforms being implemented in Kazakhstan to ensure the protection of human rights, modernization of the judicial system and the implementation of fair justice.

Minister Georgios Floridis said that Greece wants to raise cooperation with Astana in the legal sphere to a higher level, noting the achievements of Kazakhstan in the modernization of the criminal justice system. In this context, he expressed readiness to work together to improve the bilateral legal framework, including to further advance negotiations on the conclusion of the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters and the Treaty on Extradition.

Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev expressed gratitude for the organization of the visit of the delegation of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Greece to study the experience of work in the field of combating terrorism and cybercrime
