Budapest April 15, 2023 – The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Hungary together with the Kazakh-Hungarian “Barys” Foundation organized a festive event dedicated to the spring holiday of Nauryz.
The cultural event was attended by the Kazakh diaspora, Kazakh students, representatives of the Magyar Turan public fund, personalities of science and culture, as well as representatives of the Hungarian business community.
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan Zhanibek Abdrashov opened the celebration, highlighting that the holiday of Nauryz is important from the point of view of preserving national identity, strengthening peace and friendship, and emphasized that Kazakh national traditions and customs, culture and national spirit should always remain with us, wishing everyone happiness and prosperity.
The President of the Foundation, András Gál, and the Director of the Abay Center, Ongaisha Mandoki, emphasized in their speeches that the common roots and history that bind the people of the two countries together are an important basis for effective mutual cooperation.
Bright and creative performances demonstrating the national customs and traditions of the Kazakh people were presented to the audience. Many talented Kazakh diaspora representatives and students performed musical numbers. The celebration of Nauryz was accompanied by cheerful songs, dances and playing of musical instruments. There was a traditional competition for the strongest “batyr” (warrior).
The highlight of the event was the performance of the “Turan” ethno-folklore group, which transported the audience to the vast expanses of the Great Steppe with the sounds of national instruments.
In addition to the colorful concert program for the guests, a festive table was set to complement the guests' experience. Traditional Kazakh and Hungarian dishes – pilaf, goulash, paprikash, baursak and sweets were served to all the guests.
The festival left a lasting impression on the Kazakh diaspora and students, providing an opportunity to reconnect with the history and culture of their ancestors and to feel a sense of community of their homeland.
