Vienna, May 7, 2025 – At the OSCE conference “Building Resilience through Inclusion and Empowerment,” Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Alua Nadirkulova, took part and presented Kazakhstan’s efforts in promoting gender equality and human rights.
In her speech, Ambassador Nadirkulova emphasized the irreversibility of democratic reforms implemented in Kazakhstan on the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and their support from international partners, including the OSCE, the European Union and the Council of Europe.
Key achievements include the approval in 2023 of the Action Plan on Human Rights and the Rule of Law developed in accordance with UN recommendations, amendments and additions to some legislative acts on women's rights and child safety in 2024, as well as the adoption in March 2025 of the UNGA resolution on the establishment of the UN Regional Center on Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty. In addition, the election of Madina Jarbussynova to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) for 2025-2028 was an important step for the region.
Ambassador Nadirkulova also noted Kazakhstan's commitment to international obligations, including preparations for accession to the Istanbul Convention, ratification of UN protocols on the rights of children and persons with disabilities, and active participation in the Women, Peace and Security agenda (UNSCR 1325).
