Astana, December 8, 2023 – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Roman Vassilenko received Ambassador of Portugal Maria de Fatima Velez de Andrade Mendes on the occasion of the completion of her diplomatic mission in our country.
During the conversation the diplomats noted that for over 30 years of relations, cooperation between Kazakhstan and Portugal has come a long way, characterized by close political dialogue and mutual understanding. They also exchanged views on further prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the need of the expansion of the legal framework.
Deputy Minister Vassilenko welcomed Portuguese diplomat’s productive efforts to strengthen bilateral relations during her tenure in Kazakhstan.
The parties noted great potential for economic cooperation between the two countries, including in the field of digitalization. Therefore, they emphasized the importance of continuing joint work on signing the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation that in its turn will contribute to the establishment of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Deputy Minister extended his best wishes for Ambassador Mendes’s future endeavors.
Noting the uniqueness of Kazakhstan and the positive reforms taking place in the country, the Portuguese Ambassador thanked the Kazakh side for the hospitality and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation between the two countries.
