Almaty, July 2, 2022 – Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi spoke at a ceremonial meeting, held in Almaty today on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s diplomatic service, and visited the al-Farabi Kazakh National University, where he participated in a round table on “Kazakhstan’s diplomacy in the new geopolitical realities” and the opening of the Centre for Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of Kazakhstan.
At the beginning of the meeting with veteran diplomats and personnel of the Almaty Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tileuberdi conveyed to them the warm wishes of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and read out his congratulatory message.
In his remarks, the Minister highly appreciated the contribution of veterans to the formation of the Kazakh school of diplomacy, emphasizing that the foundation and fundamental principles of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy were laid from scratch in Almaty, where the first building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was located.
“You professionally established contacts with foreign diplomatic corps. Thanks to your contribution, today we have reached a level where Kazakh diplomats can confidently protect and promote the nation’s interests at any international venues,” Tileuberdi said.
On the occasion of the national diplomacy day, Minister presented state and ministerial awards to the personnel and veteran diplomats, and wished them good health and long life.
Earlier during the day, Minister spoke at a round table on the topic “Kazakh diplomacy in the new geopolitical realities” hosted by the al-Farabi KazNU, which was also attended by its Rector Zhanseit Tuymebayev, former Kazakh ambassadors, statesmen and public figures, academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, researchers and faculty of the university. The speakers discussed the achievements of Kazakh diplomacy over 30 years and exchanged views on the prospects for further evolution of our country’s foreign policy.
“Over the three decades of the existence of an independent diplomatic service, we have become a stable and respected state, actively participating in regional and global processes. Since the day we gained sovereignty, our diplomacy has ensured international legal recognition of the state border along its entire perimeter and the establishment of peaceful and equal relations with all our neighbors and other states of the world,” the Minister emphasized in his speech.
According to him, Kazakhstan has become the locomotive of integration processes in the Eurasian space and has successfully chaired a number of major international organizations. In this context, the significant contribution of KazNU to the training of professional diplomatic personnel for the country’s foreign service was noted.
Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuymebayev, retired ambassadors Tileukhan Kabdrakhmanov and Adil Akhmetov also made presentations at the round table. In addition, the Minister and the rector solemnly opened the Center for Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of the Republic of Kazakhstan at KazNU.
During his visit to the university, the Ministry got acquainted with the activities of the higher educational institution, visited the university’s al-Farabi Museum and library.
