Ways to Increase the Effectiveness of Cooperation in Economic Dimension of CICA Discussed under the Kazakh Chairmanship

Nur-Sultan, June 15, 2022 – Meeting of the Senior Officials Committee (SOC) of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Adil Tursunov. The meeting also attended by the Executive Director of the CICA Secretariat Kairat Sarybay.

During the event thematic discussions on the review of the implementation of confidence building measures in the economic dimension were held. Specific mechanisms were suggested to further improve the interaction of Member States in this area. Senior Officials expressed their interest in further strengthening cooperation with an emphasis on achieving practical results.

An important decision of the SOC meeting was the approval of Türkiye as a co-coordinator in the CICA of the priority area of interaction “Trade and Investment”.

Chairmanship also presented the main provisions of the draft final document of the 6th CICA Summit, which will be held in October 2022. Participants exchanged views on the structure and content of the document.

The Member States noted the importance of launching the transformation of the Conference into an international organization during the upcoming summit.
