March 11, 2022, Nur-Sultan - Kazakh-American online consultations on sanctions were held with assistance of U.S. Embassy to minimize the negative impact of the U.S. anti-Russian sanctions on the economy of Kazakhstan. Representatives of the interested state bodies responsible for trade and economic, financial, transport, defense, energy and aerospace areas, as well as national companies (about 80 participants) took part in the consultations from the Kazakhstan’s side.
The American side informed on the recently imposed U.S. sanctions against Russia and the specifics of the new sanctions restrictions in the trade, economic, banking, financial and energy areas. Kazakh participants were provided with explanations on various areas of cooperation with partners under the sanctions regime.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed to continue consultations in order to avoid unintended consequences of the U.S. sanctions policy for the Kazakh economy.
