Kazakhstan participates in the Istanbul Process

Dushanbe, March 30, 2021 - Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi participated in the 9th Ministerial Conference of the "Heart of Asia - Istanbul Process" under the slogan "Strengthening Consensus for Peace and Development". The Istanbul Process is a platform for political dialogue and regional cooperation to establish peace and prosperity in Afghanistan and the region as a whole.

 The conference was attended by the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, India, Iran, Turkey, Pakistan and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the UN, OIC, and CICA. The participants of the event exchanged views on regional security and cooperation in the context of Afghanistan.

In his speech, Mukhtar Tileuberdi said that Kazakhstan continues to contribute to international efforts to stabilize the situation in Afghanistan, annually providing financial, technical and humanitarian assistance. He also stressed the importance of promoting inter-Afghan peace talks based on compromises, while expressing support for the latest initiatives of the "Extended Troika" in Moscow and the upcoming international conference on Afghanistan under the auspices of the UN in Turkey.

As a result of the event, the Dushanbe Declaration was adopted, which emphasized the need for further development of regional cooperation as an effective way to counter common challenges and strengthen security and stability in Afghanistan.

On the sidelines of the Istanbul Process, Mukhtar Tileuberdi held bilateral talks with the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan - Jeyhun Bayramov, India - Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Uzbekistan - Abdulaziz Kamilov, Pakistan - Mahmood Qureshi and Tajikistan - Sirojiddin Muhriddin. During the meetings, topical issues and prospects for cooperation between our country and aforementioned states were discussed.
