About the meeting in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan

Nur-Sultan, 12 December 2020 - Charge d'Affaires of the Russian Federation Alexander Komarov was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister Marat Syzdykov expressed bewilderment at the statements on Russian TV channel “Channel One” by Chairman of the Committee on Education and Science of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Nikonov that “the territory of Kazakhstan is a great gift from Russia”.

It was noted that the increased provocative rhetoric of some Russian politicians against Kazakhstan is causing serious damage to allied relations between our states.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan expects an adequate assessment by the Russian side of such statements and calls for measures to be taken to prevent further statements of this kind from officials of the Russian Federation.

The Russian diplomat was given a note with the position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
