
In the framework of the Days of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR), dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Astana branch of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 70th anniversary of JINR, a number of international events and bilateral meetings took place in Astana.
Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva, received the JINR delegation visiting Kazakhstan meetings were also held at the Agency for Atomic Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan
The central event of the past days was the plenary session, which was devoted to the prospects for the development of scientific and technological cooperation. First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Ashikbayev in his welcoming speech at the event emphasized that the development of domestic science, as a key driver of the country's modernization, is in the focus of personal attention of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. First Deputy Minister Ashikbayev noted the growing interest in peaceful nuclear energy around the world and the revival of nuclear diplomacy – when mutual trust, control mechanisms and international cooperation become the foundations of global stability.
Representatives of JINR, the Institute of Nuclear Physics of Kazakhstan, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Belarusian State Institute also made reports on the prospects for the development of fundamental science at the plenary session.
In the margins of the meeting, Yerzhan Ashikbayev held a meeting with the JINR delegation headed by the Director General of the Institute Grigorii Trubnikov. During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and strategic prospects of cooperation, confirming mutual interest in implementing joint projects and strengthening human resources in the field of nuclear research.
