Support for Stability and Sustainable Development in Afghanistan were Discussed at the Kazakh Foreign Ministry

Astana, May 27, 2025 – First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akan Rakhmetullin held a meeting with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan, Head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) Rosa Otunbayeva, who arrived to participate in the Astana International Forum, which will be held on May 29-30, 2025.

Oliver Stolpe, the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran and Pakistan (UNODC), also attended the meeting.

Parties discussed a wide range of issues of Kazakhstan’s cooperation with UNAMA and UNODC in promoting stability and sustainable development in Afghanistan in the areas of health, education, infrastructure and employment, as well as potential joint projects within the context of the opening of the United Nations Regional Center for Sustainable Development Goals in Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty.

It was noted that Kazakhstan has been consistently providing humanitarian support to Afghanistan, including the supply of food, essential goods, medicines, as well as assistance in educational initiatives.
