
Kazakh-Mongolian Relations
Diplomatic relations were established on January 22, 1992.
Since April, 2022 Mr. Gabit Koishibayev has been Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Mongolia.
Since October, 2021 Mr. D.Bayarkhuu has been Ambassador of Mongolia to Kazakhstan.
During the period from May, 1997 to January, 2007 the Diplomatic Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan operated in Ulaanbaatar, which was transformed into the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Mongolia by a Presidential Decree of the Republic of Kazakhstan on December 2, 2006.
The Embassy of Mongolia (Nur-Sultan) and the Consular post of Mongolia (Almaty) operate in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Political Cooperation
The bilateral contacts at the highest-level:
President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev undertook
2 official visits (October, 1993 and April, 1999) and 1 State visit
to Mongolia (August, 2008).
In 1998 the President of Mongolia N.Bagabandi paid an official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan and in 2007 there has been the State visit of the President of Mongolia N.Enkhbayar to the Republic of Kazakhstan. On June 8-11, 2017, the President of Mongolia, Ts.Elbegdorj visited Kazakhstan to participate at the SCO Summit and the opening ceremony of the international specialised exhibition EXPO-2017.
On June 10, 2018 within the framework of the SCO Summit, a bilateral meeting was held between the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev and the President of Mongolia H.Battulga in Qingdao (China).

from the Kazakh side – Prime-Minister (October, 1992, July, 2016), Deputy Prime-Minister (July, 1997), State Secretary (June, 2005), Minister for Foreign Affairs (November, 2006).
from the Mongolian side – Prime-Minister (December, 1994), Head of the Administration of President (February, 2000), Secretary of National Security Council (November, 2000), Deputy Prime-Minister as part of the CICA Summit (June, 2006) and to attend ESCAP events (May, 2007).
In July 2016, as part of the XI Asia-Europe Forum (ASEM) Summit, the Prime-Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K.Massimov, paid a visit to Mongolia, who initially visited Bayan-Ulgii aimak and got acquainted with the situation of the Kazakh diaspora. Within the framework of the visit, bilateral meetings were held with the President of Mongolia C.Elbegdorj and the new Prime Minister of Mongolia J.Erdenebat.
On October 10-12, 2019 Prime Minister of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh paid an official visit to Kazakhstan. Talks were held with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the first President of Kazakhstan. There were signed
7 international treaties and 8 commercial documents.
The legal and contractual basis. Since 1991, Kazakhstan and Mongolia have signed more than 60 bilateral treaties and agreements. In 2021, there is the 28th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Friendly Relations and Cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Mongolia.
The Inter-Parliamentary cooperation. In February 2015, the Kazakhstan-Mongolia Friendship Group of the Parliament of Mongolia, headed by the Chairman of the Standing Committee, A.Bakey, visited the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In April 2016, in Ulaanbaatar, a member of the Senate Committee on Finance and Budget of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan,
K.Ischanov, participated in the 9th meeting of the Asia-Europe Inter-Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP-9).
On November 27, 2017 the deputy of the Parliament of Mongolia, the head of the Kazakhstan-Mongolia inter-parliamentary friendship group D.Murat took part in the parliamentary conference on the occasion of celebration of the First President Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in Astana.
On November 27, 2019 the Deputy of the Parliament of Mongolia, the Head of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group "Kazakhstan-Mongolia", D.Murat participated in the international parliamentary conference «Institution of presidency: Kazakhstan’s model», dedicated to the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Nur-Sultan.
On December 3, 2021, an online meeting was held between the parliamentarians of the two countries, headed by the Chairman of the Committee on Economic Reform and Regional Development of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan
A.Rau and the head of the Kazakhstan-Mongolia inter-parliamentary friendship group of the Parliament of Mongolia Kh.Badelkhan.
In August 2016, in Astana, the first President of Mongolia, Honorary President of the Mining Industry Association P.Ochirbat participated in the conference "Building a World without Nuclear Weapons".
On June 11, 2018 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, E.Ashykbayev, attended the opening of the International Research Centre for Landlocked Developing Countries in Ulaanbaatar.
On June 27-29, 2018 as part of the official closing ceremony of the Khan Quest military exercises, the First Deputy Minister of Defense – Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan M.Maykeev paid a visit to Mongolia. He was received by the President of Mongolia, H.Battulga.
On July 3-6, 2018 Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Chairman of the Emergency Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yu.Illyin participated at the Asian Ministerial Conference on Natural Disaster Reduction in Ulaanbaatar.
On October 11-12, 2018 a bilateral meeting of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan B.Sagintayev and the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia U.Enkhtuvshin took place in Dushanbe, on the margins of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of the SCO member states.
From February 26 to March 1, 2019 the Head of the National Police Agency, the commander of the Mongolian internal troops, S.Baatarzhava, participated in the international anti-terrorist operation “Channel”, in Almaty.
On June 4, 2019 the ninth Consular Consultative meeting between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Mongolia took place in Nur-Sultan.
On June 20-21, 2019 the Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, S.Vasilenko attended the high-level regional conference “The whole society’s approach to preventing and countering violent extremism and radicalization leading to terrorism” in Ulaanbaatar.
On August 3-8, 2019 at the Tavan Tolgoi military training ground (Mongolia), a group of military personnel of the Republic of Kazakhstan participated at the “Aravt” equestrian marathon in the framework of the international army games-2019.
On August 28-29, 2019 Deputy Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations P.Baathanhuu took part at the meeting of representatives of nuclear-weapon-free zones on the topic “Development and strengthening of consultation mechanisms between existing nuclear-weapon-free zones”, in Nur-Sultan.
On October 21, 2019 in Ulaanbaatar, the Deputy Mayor of Nur-Sultan city E.Kizatov participated in events dedicated to the celebration of the 380th anniversary of the formation of the capital of Mongolia.
On February 15, 2020 within the framework of the security conference, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan
M.Tleuberdi and the Minister of Foreign Relations of Mongolia D.Tsogtbaatar in Munich (Germany).
On August 26, 2021, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia N.Chinbat took part in an online meeting of the Council of Members of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions.
On October 11-14, 2021, the Minister of Foreign Relations of Mongolia B.Batsetseg paid an official visit to Kazakhstan and took part in the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the CICA member states. Official negotiations were held with the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, meetings with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.Mamin and the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan
B.Sultanov.
On November 2, 2021, in Glasgow (Great Britain), within the framework of the COP26 meeting of the parties to the Climate Change Convention, a short meeting was held between the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.Mamin and the President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh.
Cooperation within the framework of international organizations’ activities
On September 28, 2018 in New York, during the High-Level Week at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, the Mongolian side supported the adoption of the Code of Conduct towards Achieving a World Free of Terrorism, prepared on the basis of Kazakhstan’s non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council.
On September 19-22, 2018 the Mongolian side supported Kazakhstan during the vote in the Audit Committee in the framework of the 14th session of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI).
On October 25-26, 2018 in Astana, the Member of Parliament, Minister of Health of Mongolia D.Sarangerel participated at the High-Level session of the Global Conference on Primary Health Care for the World Health Organization dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the adoption of the WHO Almaty Declaration.
Kazakhstan supported the candidacy of Mongolia in the elections to the Governing Council of the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific and the Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management during the 75th session of ESCAP (May 27-31, 2019, Bangkok).
In August 2019, Mongolia supported the initiative of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the transfer of the chairmanship of the CICA to Kazakhstan, and on October 11-12, 2021, in Nur-Sultan, represented by the Minister of Foreign Relations of Mongolia, B.Batsetseg took an active part in the ministerial meeting of the CICA member states.
On February 24, 2021, the Mongolian side officially confirmed its support for being Kazakhstan as a member of the IAEA Far East Group.
Trade and Economic Relations
According to the Statistics Committee of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the bilateral turnover during the 2021 amounted to $ 60.9 million, of which export – $ 58.5 million, import – $ 2.44 million.
For reference: in 2020, mutual turnover amounted to $ 29.3 million, of which exports - $ 27.4 million, imports - $1.87 million. In 2019 – $59.9 million, 2018 - $67,4 million, in 2017 - $ 74.8 million.
The main export commodities to Mongolia are tobacco products, rapeseed, bread and flour confectionery, seeds and fruits of other oilseeds, food products (coffee, chocolate), as well as engines and engineering products.
The main import commodities from Mongolia are meat and meat products, quick postage stamps, stamped paper, similar forms of securities, cashmere, carpets and woolen goods.
In the past three years, there has been a decline in mutual trade, it does not reflect the capacity of the countries. Kazakhstan remains typically a net exporter in Mongolia’s foreign trade.
There is an Intergovernmental Kazakh-Mongolian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation. The 8th meeting of the IGC was virtually held on November 25, 2020. The Kazakhstan side was headed by the co-Chairman of the Commission, the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan B.Sultanov (since October, 2019); the Mongolian side – Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia Z.Mandsaikhan (since July, 2021).
In the spring of 2015, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan B.Sagintayev paid a working visit to Mongolia. Negotiations were held with the President C.Elbegdorj, the Prime Minister C.Saikhanbileg and the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh.
In March 2016, the Akim of the East Kazakhstan region D.Akhmetov paid a working visit to Mongolia and met with the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia Ts.Oyunbaatar, governors of aimakov Khovd and Bayan-Ulgii.
As a result of the protracted negotiations, which have been started in 2016, on October 11, 2019 there was signed a Construction agreement of a gold and silver refining plant and its commissioning between «Symbat Engineering» LLP and «Erdenes Alt Resource» LLP (planned commissioning of the plant - autumn 2020), in Nur-Sultan.
In July 2016, the Chairman of the Board of “Kaznex Invest” JSC B.Zhangurazov and the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan Development Bank JSC D.Babichev participated at the XV Asian-European Business Forum held in Ulaanbaatar.
In October 2016 and November 2017, “Kaznex Invest” JSC with the support of the Embassy, conducted trade missions with the involvement of broad segments of the business community of Mongolia.
On January 29-30, 2017 K.Alpysbayev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy”, visited Mongolia. Negotiations were held with the leadership of the Ulaanbaatar Railway (UBRW) on establishing cooperation.
On February 20-22, 2017 the Chairman of the Management Board of “NAC “KazAtomProm” JSC, A.Zhumagaliev, paid a visit to Ulaanbaatar, who held talks with the Atom nuclear company “Mon-Atom” of Mongolia. The parties are currently carrying out a draft of the Memorandum between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Mongolian Nuclear Energy Commission on cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.
On August 14-15, 2017 at the invitation of the Akim of the East Kazakhstan region D.Akhmetov, the Governor of the Bayan-Ulgii aimag of Mongolia, A.Gylymkhan, visited Kazakhstan. A memorandum of cooperation between the East Kazakhstan region and the Bayan-Ulgii aimag was signed.
On June 17-19, 2018 the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia U.Enkhtuvshin paid a working visit to Kazakhstan to study the possibilities of developing bilateral transit and transport cooperation, familiarizing himself with activities of the Khorgos – Vostochnye Vorota free economic zone and The International Centre for Cross-Border Cooperation “Khorgos”.
On June 19-21, 2018 the Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry of Mongolia D.Sumiyabazar took part in the World Mining Congress in Astana.
On September 20-21, 2018 E.Odbayar, the Executive Director of the International Research Centre for Landlocked Developing Countries (ITTLLDC), participated at the SPECA Economic Forum and the session of the SPECA Governing Council held in Almaty.
On October 4-5, 2018 and June 4-5, 2019 the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan held Trade and Economic Missions in Ulaanbaatar, during which there were meetings of entrepreneurs and companies of the two countries specializing in the food industry, pharmacology, light industry, mechanical engineering and production of building materials.
On November 30, 2018 the Kazakh-Mongolian Business Forum was held in Almaty, which was attended by a delegation of Mongolian entrepreneurs headed by the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mongolia (the Mongolian delegation also participated in the Forum “Almaty Invest”).
On October 10-12, 2018 Ts.Tsengel, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia participated at the 8th session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes held in Astana.
On March 4-7, 2019, Ts.Sharavjamts, President of the Physical Culture and Sport Authority, Implementary Agency of the Government of Mongolia paid a visit to Kazakhstan. There was signed a Protocol on cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Physical Culture and Sport Authority, Implementary Agency of the Government of Mongolia.
On March 5, 2019 in New York, within the 50th session of the UN Statistical Commission, the heads of the statistical services of the two states signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Statistical Committee of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Statistical Committee of Mongolia.
On March 15, 2019 Astana hosted a regular meeting of the Joint Commission on International Road Transport as part of the implementation of the intergovernmental Agreement on the international transport of passengers and goods by road, during which there was agreed to launch a new Almaty-Ulgii route, and national carriers were identified at both sides.
On April 23-27, 2019 Nur-Sultan was visited by the Head of Veterinary and Animal Breeding Agency D.Tumendemberel, who on the margins of CAREX events, met with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan G.Isaeva and discussed the establishment of bilateral cooperation in the field of veterinary and animal husbandry.
On May 9-12, 2019 a working trip of T.Kabduldanov, the Deputy Chairman of the Committee of Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, took place to Mongolia to get acquainted with the local epizootic situation and activities of Mongolian General Authority for Veterinarian Services. There was signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Kazakh Scientific Research Veterinary Institute and the Veterinary Medical Institute of Mongolia.
On May 27, 2019 in Paris within the General Session of the International Epizootic Bureau, the Kazakh versions of Veterinary Certificates were initialed for exporting from Kazakhstan chicken eggs and poultry meat, cattle and cattle genetic material, for export the breeding and user-friendly sheep and the lamb meat to the EAEU customs territory from Mongolia. (In October 10, 2019 there has been signed the Memorandum of understanding in the field of veterinary between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Veterinary and Animal Breeding Agency of Mongolia).
From June 3, 2019 regular direct flights between the capitals of Kazakhstan and Mongolia are operated by SCAT (twice a week).
On September 23-27, 2019 Nur-Sultan was visited by the Deputy Minister of Energy of Mongolia T.Gantulga in order to participate in the XII Eurasian Forum “KazEnergy” within the framework of “Kazakhstan Energy Week”.
On October 11, 2019 in the framework of the visit of the Prime Minister of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh, the Kazakh-Mongolian Business Forum was attended by 200 business leaders of both sides in Nur-Sultan (8 documents were signed).
In the period from November 4 to 11, 2019 the Deputy Chairman of the Committee of Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan T.Kabduldanov paid a working visit to Mongolia to familiarize himself with the epizootic situation and activities of the veterinary services of aimaks Khovd and Bayan-Ulgii.
On November 11-12, 2019, the President of the “Mabetex” Construction Group A.Pakolli visited Ulaanbaatar, as well as he had a meeting with the Head of the Government of Mongolia U.Khurelsuh to discuss the construction of an opera theater and a central museum in Ulaanbaatar based on the Kazakhstan’s experience.
On March 10-12, 2020, in Ulaanbaatar, negotiations were held between the Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of “KazakhExport” JSC A.Kaligazin and the management of the “Mongolian Railway” JSC and “Bodi International” to discuss preliminary conditions for financing the procurement of railway products of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On June 5, 2020, the Civil Aviation Committee of the MIID RK provided a certificate of a foreign carrier to the “Hunnu Air” airline (Mongolia) for operating of flights on the Ulaanbaatar - Almaty route, the official launch of which took place on September 28, 2020.
On October 14, 2020, consultations among Foreign Ministries of Kazakhstan and Mongolia at the level of directors of the supervising departments were held online.
On October 28 and November 11, 2020, online meetings of the Deputy Mayor of the Kyzylorda region N.Tileshev with the management of the “Gobi” corporation and the “Darkhan Nekhiy” joint-stock company took place on the issue of creating a joint venture for processing wool and leather in Kyzylorda. The Embassy organized on February 3, 2021 his online meeting with N.Bat-Ochir, the Deputy President of the Union of Leather Production of Mongolia.
On December 21, 2020, March 10, 2021, June 4, 2021, September 16, 2021 and December 28, 2021 the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th meetings of the Working Group of Experts to discuss the draft of the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Mongolia on pensions were held online. The 11th virtual meeting of the WGE will take place virtually in March, 2022.
On February 24, 2021, an online meeting was held between the Executive Director of JSC “NC “Kazakh Tourism” T.Amanbaev and the Chairman of the Mongolian Tourism Association D.Otgonbayar with the participation of 11 Mongolian tourist operators and travel agencies.
On April 23, 2021, an online meeting was held between the Director of the Investment and Marketing Department of “Kazakh Invest” NC” JSC Zh.Temirgali and the Deputy Chairman of the Executive Agency of the Government of Mongolia - the Mongolian National Development Agency for Foreign Investment and Multilateral Cooperation B.Bulganchimeg on the interaction of investment policy and attracting investment.
On May 4, 2021, an online meeting was organized between the director of development of the research and production company “STRAZH” A.Makarov and the general manager of the construction company “Khemjilzui LLC” T.Bayartsolmon in order to deepen cooperation in the use and sale of electric digital steam-drip heating batteries.
On July 21, 2021, an online meeting of the Director of the Investor Relations Department of the Sovereign Wealth Fund “Samruk-Kazyna” L.Demesinova with the Members of the Parliament of Mongolia G.Amartuvshin took place on the creation of the Welfare Fund.
On September 14, 2021, an online meeting was organized on the digitalization of permits for the transportation of goods and passengers between MIID RoK and the Ministry of Roads and Transport Development of Mongolia.
On October 25, 2021, in Nur-Sultan, a meeting was held between the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan E.Karashukeyev and the deputy chairman of the Standing Committee on Nature and Environment, Food and Agriculture of the Parliament of Mongolia H.Bolorchuluun, who, at the head of a representative delegation, visited the international agricultural exhibition "KazAgro-2021" and the exhibition on animal husbandry and the meat and dairy industry "KazFarm-2021".
On November 25, 2021, an online meeting was held between the head of the Association of Light Industry Enterprises of Kazakhstan L.Khudova and the president of the Mongolian Wool and Cashmere Association D.Altantsetseg on the issue of joint promotion of cooperation in the light industry.
On December 2, 2021, M.Byambaseren, the Head of the Investment Promotion Department of the Executive Agency of the Government of Mongolia - Mongolian National Development Department and G. Ulziysaykhan, Director of the Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Mongolia virtually took part at the international investment forum "Almaty Investment Forum-2021".
On December 7, 2021, an online meeting was held between the Deputy Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan M. Karabaev and the President of the Mongolian Wool and Cashmere Association D. Altantsetseg on the use of Mongolian experience in the development of light industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On March 3, 2022, an online meeting was organized between the Agency for Science, Industrial Development and Innovation of Ulaanbaatar and the Corporate Fund «International Technopark of IT Startups» Astana Hub» under the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan to exchange experience and establish cooperation in the field of IT technology.
The Embassy continues to assist in the study of issues on the import of 500 thousand heads of small ruminants from Mongolia for the “Steppe Sheep International” company (Karaganda region), the search for trading companies for the export of grain and oil crops to Mongolia, products of the “Saule” confectionery factory, “Qazaq Partners” LLP, “Zhan Ai Group”, “Al Abai”, “Makinsk poultry farm”, “Contsern “Tsesna-Astyk" LLP, “Rasma” Trade House” LLP, telecommunications equipment plant “EltexAlatau”, promotion of flour products, rapeseed and oilseeds of Northern Kazakhstan, branded products of Zhambyl and Kyzylorda regions to the Mongolian market, non-commodity exports within the framework of the “Qaztrade Accelerator” program, as well as buses of “Saryarka AvtoProm”, “Daewoo Bus Kazakhstan”, “Hyundai Trans Auto”, “SemAZ”, “QazTechna”.
Cultural and Humanitarian Cooperation
In June 2009, the 1st Khurultay of the Kazakhs of Mongolia was held in Ulaanbaatar.
In November 2010, Astana hosted Mongolian cultural days in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In July 2013, the 3rd Khurultay of the Kazakhs of Mongolia was held in Ulaanbaatar, within the framework of which a “Round Table” on relevant issues of the Kazakh diaspora’s life as well as a concert program was organized.
In April 2014, a delegation of the Union of Muslims of Mongolia visited Kazakhstan. A memorandum on strengthening cooperation has been signed.
In April 2015, with the support of the Embassy a concert was held in Ulaanbaatar with the participation of Mongolian opera singer M.Tolkyn, dedicated to the 170th anniversary of the poet and thinker A.Kunanbayev.
In May 2015, the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with the Institute of International Relations of the Academy of Sciences of Mongolia organized a “Round Table” dedicated to the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate. It was attended by scientists of Kazakh State University named after al-Farabi, experts of research and educational institutions, analytical centres of the host country.
In pursuance of the bilateral intergovernmental Agreement in the field of education (2008) 15 citizens of Mongolia enrolled in the universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2018. In addition, annual work is carried out to attract school and preschool aged children of ethnic Kazakhs to the children's entertainment and health centre “Baldauren” (Borovoe). In 2018, 30 children have rested on the quota in Kazakhstan.
On February 10-11, 2017 Kazakhstan was visited by S.Zulfikar, Head of the Academy of Public Administration under the Government of Mongolia. The Joint Action Plan for 2017-2020 with the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was signed.
In August 2016, representatives of the International Turkic Academy (TWESCO) took part in a historical and archaeological expedition as part of the Great Steppe project. On May 25, 2017 in Astana, the President of the International Turkic Academy (TWESCO) D.Kydyrali and the Director of the National Museum of Mongolia D.Sukhbaatar signed an Agreement on conducting archaeological excavations.
On March 29, 2018 in Astana, as part of the 7th IGC meeting, the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Mongolia S.Chinzorig and Minister of the Mining and Heavy Industry of Mongolia D.Sumiyabazar visited the Turkic Academy.
On July 4, 2018 within the framework of participation in the international scientific-practical conference “Integration of Silk Road Universities”, there was a working visit of B.Ochirbat, the Head of the Mongolian State Technical University of Science and Technology, to the Eurasian National University named after L.Gumilev.
On August 6-10, 2018 in Ulaanbaatar, D.Kydyrali, the President of the Turkic Academy, the chairman of the board of “Egemen Kazakhstan” JSC, took part in the VII International Symposium of Altai Peoples.
On October 10-11, 2018 the spiritual leaders of Mongolia, Hamba Lama Ch.Dambazhav (the Dashchoilin Monastery) and Da Lama H.Bambazhav (the Gandantegchinlen Monastery) took part in the VI Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.
On October 17, 2018, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan allocated humanitarian assistance in the amount of 500 thousand US dollars to restore the regions of Mongolia, including Bayan-Ulgii aimag, which suffered from floods in July 2018.
On October 19, 2018 a round table on the theme “25th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Mongolia: results and future” was held in Ulaanbaatar. As part of this event, Vice-President of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.Akhmetov visited the Academy of Public Administration of the Government of Mongolia.
During the period of November 29 to December 5, 2018 with the support of the Embassy in Shymkent an ethnic Kazakh woman, a champion of Mongolia, a medalist of the Junior World Cup, J.Maidarkyzy participated in an archery competition.
On March 19-22, 2019 A.Satmurzayev, the Vice-Chancellor of the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abay, visited Ulaanbaatar. Meetings were held with the leaders of the Ministry of Education of Culture, Sports and Science of Mongolia, the Mongolian State Pedagogical University.
On June 24-26, 2019 in Nur-Sultan, the first President of Mongolia P.Ochirbat participated in the IV Humanities Forum “The Great Steppe”, organized by the International Turkic Academy. Also, a meeting was held with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K.Tokayev.
On July 11-18, 2019 Director of the Research Institute “Public Opinion” B.Rakisheva visited Ulaanbaatar in order to study the socio-economic situation of the Kazakh diaspora in Mongolia.
On July 20-27, 2019 a tour of the Kostanai Regional Kazakh Drama Theater took place to Ulgii (Bayan-Ulgii aimag).
With the support of the Embassy, on September 9-10, 2019 the Centre for Culture and Literature of Kazakhstan was opened in the Central Library named after A.Babiula in Bayan-Ulgii aimag with the participation of representatives of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, “Otandastar Qory” JSC, and “Kazkontent” JSC.
On October 23-28, 2019, representatives of Nazarbayev University took part in the international exhibition “Global University Fair-2019” in Ulaanbaatar and met with the youth of the Kazakh diaspora.
On October 30, 2019 the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia, U.Enkhtuvshin participated at the round table organized by the International Turkic Academy dedicated to the 750th anniversary of the Golden Horde in Nur-Sultan.
On November 18-20, 2019, the Embassy together with the “Otandastar Qory” NCJSC and the World Association of Kazakhs held meetings with compatriots in the cities of Ulaanbaatar and Ulgii. The main goal of the events is to establish and strengthen cultural, educational and business contacts with the Kazakh diaspora.
On November 28-30, 2019 in Ulaanbaatar the “Kazakh Movies Days” were held with the screening of domestic films.
On June 10, 2020, with the assistance of the Embassy, the evacuation of 96 citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan from Mongolia was organized by a special board along the route "Ulaanbaatar – Nur-Sultan". On August 30, 2020, assistance was provided in the evacuation of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan from Mongolia by a special flight along the above-mentioned route. Moreover, 6 citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan on September 28 and 18 citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan on November 8 were assisted to return to their homeland by the special flights along the route "Ulaanbaatar – Almaty".
On October 2, 2020, the Embassy organized a creative evening devoted to the 175th anniversary of the birth of the poet A. Kunanbayuly and the 1150th anniversary of the birth of the scientist Abu Nasyr al-Farabi.
On October 12-20, 2020, the Embassy organized book and photo exhibitions devoted to the 175th anniversary of the birth of the poet A.Kunanbayuly and the 1150th anniversary of the birth of the scientist Abu Nasir al-Farabi at the Central Library of the city of Ulaanbaatar named after D.Natsagdorzh.
On October 20, 2020, at the initiative of the Embassy in the International school “Elite” in Ulaanbaatar, an open lesson was held on the topic “Abai - the great son of the great steppe”, devoted to the 175th anniversary of the birth of the poet A.Kunanbayuly.
In February 2021, a book exhibition was held at the Central Library of the Bayan-Ulgii aimag named after Aktan Babiuly, dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From April 22, 2021, an online course of the Kazakh language is being held at the initiative of the Embassy and with the support of the “Otandastar Foundation”.
On August 10, 2021, a round table was held dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of Independence of Kazakhstan and the birthday of Abai Kunanbayuly.
From August 31 to September 6, 2021, in Karaganda, the Mongolian team took part in the 16th World Championship in fire and rescue sports.
On September 22, 2021, an exhibition of books and photographs dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence was held with the participation of representatives of state bodies, local media and the Kazakh diaspora of Mongolia.
On November 30, 2021 was held a meeting of Friends of Kazakhstan Club in Ulaanbaatar, dedicated to the Day of the First President and the 30th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On January 18, 2022, a briefing for Mongolian mass media was held, during which information was provided on the "Tragic January" incident and shown a documentary with details of it.
On January 22, 2022, congratulatory letters from the presidents and the miniters of foreign affairs of the two countries were exchanged on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the conclusion of the register of relations between Kazakhstan and Mongolia.
On February 18, 2022, the III President of Mongolia Nambaryn Enkhbayar was awarded the Jubilee Medal dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
