
On August 20-21, 2025, the city of Bukhara is hosting the "Days of Kazakhstan’s Archives in Uzbekistan." As part of the event, an International Scientific and Practical Conference titled “The Role and Importance of Archives in the Information Society” and an exhibition of archival documents dedicated to the ties between the two brotherly nations were organized.
The exhibition showcased unique materials reflecting the historical, political, economic, and cultural relations between the two countries.
The conference gathered leading archival specialists, scholars, historians, documentarians, IT professionals, and members of the academic communities of both countries.
For reference: The previous "Days of Uzbekistan’s Archives in Kazakhstan" were held in June 2024 in the city of Shymkent.
The Kazakhstani delegation included representatives from the Central State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation, the National Archive, the Committee on Archives, Documentation, and Library Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Information, heads of state archives of Almaty, Shymkent, Turkestan, North Kazakhstan, and Kyzylorda regions, as well as diplomats from the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan.
During the panel sessions, participants discussed the role of archives in the modern information society, digitization of historical documents, modern preservation mechanisms, policies of openness, and the importance of archives for civil society institutions.
Within the framework of the event, the Director of the “Uzarxiv” Agency, U. Yusupov, and the Head of the Monitoring and State Control Department of the Committee on Archives, Documentation, and Book Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, I. Babaev, presented a unique photo-album book titled “Cultural Cooperation of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in Archival Photographs,” which is the result of joint efforts of archival professionals from both countries.
