On October 16, 2025, a meeting was held at the Embassy of Kazakhstan with the newly appointed Ambassador of Russian Federation to Uzbekistan Alexei Yerkhov.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Beibut Atamkulov, congratulated A. Yerkhov on the start of his diplomatic mission, stressed the importance of partnership between Kazakhstan and Russia, the need for further development of relations in key areas.
In this context, it was noted that the leaders of Kazakhstan and Russia have developed truly warm, trusting and constructive relations, which have given a new strategic dimension to bilateral cooperation. This level of cooperation has become an important milestone in the development of allied ties, reflecting the high degree of mutual understanding and common long-term interests of our states. It is thanks to this quality of political dialogue that stable prerequisites are created for deepening partnership across the entire spectrum of areas - from political and economic cooperation to humanitarian and integration cooperation.
Special attention is paid to cooperation between foreign ministries, the development of industrial cooperation, energy, transport and logistics partnerships, as well as nuclear energy.
The sides exchanged views on multilateral cooperation and regional security. In this vein, Ambassador B. Atamkulov stressed the importance of involving Afghanistan in regional economic projects.
At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to continue the dialogue on further strengthening bilateral relations.
For reference: the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Russia in 2024 amounted to 28.1 billion US dollars, in the 1st half of 2025 billion US dollars.
