
On April 29, 2025, a series of events took place in Tashkent within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS): the 105th meeting of the CIS Economic Council and the First Forum of Regions of the CIS Member States.
The Economic Council meeting was attended by high-level representatives from the CIS countries. The Republic of Kazakhstan was represented by Beketzhan Zhumakhanov, Plenipotentiary Representative to the CIS Economic Council, and Zhanel Kushukova, Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan.
Key documents aimed at strengthening economic cooperation among CIS countries were reviewed and approved during the meeting. Draft concepts were endorsed in areas such as harmonization of national air traffic management systems, public health protection, development of the light industry, and cooperation in heavy engineering. Special attention was given to innovation collaboration and technology commercialization.
On the same day, the First Forum of Regions of the CIS Member States was held, marking a new platform for strengthening interregional cooperation. The forum brought together delegations from state authorities and business communities of the CIS countries to discuss prospects for trade, economic, investment, industrial-technological, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
The Kazakh delegation included representatives from central government bodies, as well as delegations from Kyzylorda Region led by Deputy Akim A. Zebeshev, Turkistan Region led by Deputy Akim T. Kozbekov, East Kazakhstan Region, the Akimat of Astana city, and around 50 Kazakhstani companies. Vice Minister Zhanel Kushukova delivered a keynote address.
As part of the forum, regional delegations from Kazakhstan held bilateral meetings with the leadership of BMB Holding and UzTrade companies to discuss cooperation in the agro-industrial complex and the supply of fruit and vegetable products.
Following the event, memorandums were signed between the Kyzylorda Region Akimat and Orient Ceramic LLC, the National Association "Qazak Oner" and the "Hunarmand" Association, and between the Akimat of Zhetysai District and the company "Samarkand Irrigation System".
