
On July 16 of this year, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of South Korea to Uzbekistan, Won Do Yong, visited the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov noted the high level of political dialogue between the countries of Central Asia and South Korea, highlighting the recent official visits of South Korean President Yun Seok-yong to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the results of the high-level events held, as well as ways to implement the agreements reached between the heads of state.
It should be noted that South Korea is a major trade and investment partner for both Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and South Korea in 2023 amounted to 6 billion US dollars.
Cultural and humanitarian ties occupy a special place on the agenda of bilateral cooperation. By the will of fate, the countries of Central Asia became home to hundreds of thousands of ethnic Koreans who arrived in our region at the beginning of the last century. As noted by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.K.Tokayev during talks with the South Korean leader: "The Korean diaspora in Kazakhstan, being the "golden bridge of friendship", makes a huge contribution to strengthening contacts between peoples."
