On September 26, 2024, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent hosted the International Conference of Think Tanks from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member countries under the theme “A New Agenda for Long-Term Cooperation.”
The main goal of the conference was to conduct an in-depth analysis of processes in the CIS region, explore prospects and unrealized opportunities, and jointly assess potential risks to sustainable development.
The conference was attended by leaders and experts from leading foreign policy institutes of the CIS countries, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps.
The Kazakh delegation included the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan, Beibut Atamkulov, Deputy Chairman of the Institute for Foreign Policy Research Amangeldy Tajenov, and Chief Expert of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aliya Musabekova, who delivered comprehensive reports on relevant topics.
One of the key events of the conference was the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Institute for Foreign Policy Research under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Center for Foreign Policy Research under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
It should be noted that in recent years, against the backdrop of rapid changes in the geopolitical landscape, the importance of think tanks has significantly increased. Today, these organizations play a key role in strategy development, global trend analysis, and offering solutions to adapt to new challenges.
In this context, the joint work of such centers allows the pooling of expert knowledge, the exchange of advanced analytical methodologies, and the formulation of comprehensive recommendations for governments.
