
On September 25-26, 2024, the IX Annual meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) on the theme «Creating sustainable infrastructure for all» was held in Samarkand.
The meeting was attended by high-level delegations from more than 100 countries, heads and representatives of the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, the Turkic Investment Fund and other international institutions, top managers of leading foreign companies and reputable experts (about 2 thousand delegates). The Kazakh delegation was headed by Vice Minister of National Economy Arman Kasenov.
The agenda included topical issues of the global economy and finance, strategic programs and infrastructure development plans in Asia and other regions of the world. The event included a program of 25 panel sessions, discussions, business breakfasts, round tables of ministers and governors dedicated to innovations in infrastructure financing, climate change resilience and sustainable development, as well as the digital transformation of infrastructure projects.
The key event of the event was the inaugural session with the participation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.Mirziyoyev. During his speech, the Leader of Uzbekistan elaborated on the ongoing reforms and transformations in the country, stressing that special attention is paid to the liberalization of the economy, improving living standards and incomes of the population.
On the sidelines of the Forum, bilateral meetings were held between the Vice Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.Kasenova with the Vice-President of the European Investment Bank K.Kakuris and Vice-President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank K.Limitovsky.
During the above-mentioned meetings, an exchange of views took place on the current state and prospects for expanding cooperation between financial institutions and the Republic of Kazakhstan. Special attention was paid to the issues of co-financing projects for the modernization and construction of transport, energy, water and social infrastructure in Kazakhstan.
