Kazakhstan and North Macedonia strengthen energy cooperation

Astana, May 29, 2025 – Within the framework of the Astana International Forum (AIF-2025), the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Akkenzhenov, met with the Minister of Energy, Mining and Minerals of the Republic of North Macedonia, Sanja Bozhinovska.

The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector, with an emphasis on the development of renewable energy sources (RES).

Akkenzhenov noted Kazakhstan's active development of the green energy sector and invited partners from North Macedonia to participate in projects. He stressed that our country has a successful experience in implementing renewable energy projects using an internationally recognized auction mechanism and has achieved significant results in this area.

Minister Bozhinovska expressed interest in studying Kazakhstan's experience in the development of renewable energy. Particular interest was shown in legislative initiatives, auction procedures and mechanisms of state support for investors.

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to North Macedonia Satybaldy Burshakov attended the meeting.

In addition, within the framework of AIF-2025, Sanja Bozhinovska took part in the panel discussion «The Resource Race: Who Controls the Green Future» along with international experts.
