
Seoul, December 28, 2024 – The capital of Korea hosted the performance of "Embrace of Kumiho" presented by the Kazakh State Academic Korean Theater with the support of the Yangcheon Cultural Center. The play is based on the Korean legend of the nine-tailed fox, Kumiho, who faces the dilemma of choosing between virtue and primal instincts in her pursuit of love.
The creative evening was attended by representatives of local authorities, business circles, and figures from the arts.
In his address at the event, Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Korea, Nurgali Arystanov, emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy in bringing the peoples of the two countries closer. He highlighted significant achievements in the development of bilateral relations, including the launch of direct Astana-Seoul flights, the growth of mutual tourism, and key events such as the visit of Korea's President to Kazakhstan in June, the Speaker of the National Assembly in October, and the official visit of Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister to Seoul in November. He also noted that recent visits to Korea by Kazakhstan's Ministers of Energy, Transport, Science and Higher Education, and Culture and Sports have contributed to strengthening cooperation in these areas. The Ambassador stated that ethnic Koreans in Kazakhstan play an essential role in the country's society, including fostering ties between Kazakhstan and Korea.
Artistic Director of the Korean Theater, Lyubov Ni, and Director of the Yangcheon Cultural Center, Cheon Dong-hee, briefly spoke about the active collaboration between Kazakhstan and Korea and expressed confidence in the future prospects of holding joint cultural events.
Overall, the guests of the creative evening were impressed by the high level of professionalism and talent displayed by the Kazakh actors.
