Mining sector of Kazakhstan in the «field of vision» of Canadian business

Vancouver, February 3, 2022 - The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Canada Akylbek Kamaldinov and the Foreign Representative of «Kazakh Invest» National Company» JSC in North America Galymzhan Matayev made a working trip to British Columbia on February 1-3, 2022.

Despite severe pandemic restrictions, in 2022 the government of British Columbia allowed the annual international mining conference and exhibition «AME BC Roundup» to be held in a «live format» in the Canadian «hub» of mining companies – Vancouver.

For the first time, samples of rocks from Kazakhstan were demonstrated at the AME BC Roundup exhibition. The Canadian junior company «Arras Minerals (Silver Bull Resources)» is conducting exploration work at the Beskauga deposit in the Pavlodar region.

Participation in the event allowed holding more than 40 meetings with mining and exploration companies, investors, experts and other representatives of the professional geological business community in Canada.

During the visit, a business lunch with the 25 Canadian companies who are interested in developing cooperation with Kazakhstan was organized along with Arras Minerals (Silver Bull Resources).

During the speech, A.Kamaldinov noted that the mining industry is one of the key areas of cooperation with Canada. It was mentioned that significant interest of Canadian companies to invest in the mining industry of Kazakhstan were made in light of a favorable investment climate in Kazakhstan and after the adoption of the On Subsoil Code.

The foreign representative of «Kazakh Invest» NC» JSC G.Matayev in his presentation spoke about investment climate in Kazakhstan, development of the mining industry and the potential for developing cooperation with Canadian business.

As a result of the events, negotiations were held with Canadian potential investors, who demonstrated great interest in a number of projects in Kazakhstan. Specific agreements were reached on further joint steps to develop initiatives.

In addition, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan A.Kamaldinov took part and spoke at the 11th International Mining Conference, organized by the Business Association of Canadian Companies in Eurasia «CERBA». A.Kamaldinov urged Canadian companies to consider Kazakhstan as a reliable country with all the necessary conditions for doing business, noting that the statistics of Canadian investments in Kazakhstan and bilateral trade in 2021 showed significant growth and reached a maximum over the past 9 years. More than 100 people took part in the event.
