
Ottawa, March 25, 2021 – Nauryz Meiramy celebrated online in Canada. The event, organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Canada, was attended by members of the Parliament of Canada, official representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, government agencies, the mayors of the cities of Ottawa and Toronto, diplomatic missions accredited in Canada, representatives of public and scientific circles, as well as the Kazakh diaspora living in the country of the maple leaf.
The ceremony was opened by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Canada Akylbek Kamaldinov, who in his speech congratulated all the compatriots and friends of Kazakhstan in the host country on the advent of the Nauryz holiday. «Nauryz is an integral part of our culture and unites peoples for further creation and development. It is celebrated all over the world, including in Canada, where thousands of our compatriots live. I am sure that this holiday will continue to contribute to the strengthening of friendship, mutual respect and harmony throughout the world», - the Kazakh diplomat said.
The Day before, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau congratulated Canadians on Nauryz. «Nauryz is an opportunity to reflect on the outgoing year and outline your plans for the coming year. At this time, people begin to look to the future with hope and optimism and express gratitude to the people around them for their contribution to building a better Canada. Only together can we create a stronger, more diverse and inclusive society», - said Trudeau.
Mayor of Ottawa Jim Watson also congratulated all Kazakhstanis on Nauryz. «Despite the fact that we can not be together these days, I am very pleased to congratulate all Kazakhstanis on the holiday of Nauryz. Within the framework of the event, the laureate of national and international competitions A.Tazhibayeva sent her musical congratulations to her compatriots in Canada. She performed Abai's song «Kozimnin Karasy» on kobyz. The finalist of the musical TV show TOPJARGAN 2019, vocalist from Karaganda K.Nurdoldai performed a Kazakh folk song in an ethnic style. Musical greetings were also presented by talented musicians and vocalists from the Kazakh diaspora in Canada.
In addition, the results of the Kazakhstan poetry contest were announced, which gave an opportunity to recall the best works of Kazakh authors, share their reading with friends both in Kazakhstan and in Canada. The winners of the contest S.Karshyga, S.Shaltykova, A.Akhmetova Wylie, L.Kisseleva and D.Amanzhol were awarded with memorable gifts. All participants demonstrated a wonderful performance, each unique and interesting in its own way, and received a gift of a book by the great Kazakh poet Abai in English.
