Legalisation of documents involves establishment and verification of signature and seal authenticity on the documents with aim to use a document in another state.

Documents certified by public notaries of the Republic of Kazakhstan and intended to be used outside the Republic of Kazakhstan should comply with the requirements established by Chapter 10 of the Rules on Notarial Record Management approved by Order No. 32 of the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan as of January 31, 2012.
The following is not subject to legalisation:
Payment is made for each document to be legalised separately. Payment is made from the person whose document is to be legalised.

The Republic of Kazakhstan is a party to the Hague Convention of 1961, which abolishes mandatory consular legalisation of foreign official documents.
In accordance with the Convention, documents made by the competent authorities of one state, and intended for use in the territory of another state that is a member of the Hague Convention, are stamped "apostille". Documents certified by an apostille in one of the states participating in the Convention are accepted in another state participating in the Convention without any restrictions.
