On August 10, Kazakhstan celebrates Abai Day

The holiday date is dedicated to the great thinker, poet, founder of modern Kazakh literature, composer and educator Abai Kunanbayev (1845-1904).

Everyone in Kazakhstan knows Abai. He is the alpha and omega of the national culture, whose thoughts and creativity remain absolutely modern and relevant.

Abay's works have been translated into more than a hundred languages, including Belarusian. In 2011, on the initiative of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Belarus, a collection of Abay's poems was published, which were translated into Belarusian by a wonderful master of poetic words Nikolai Metlitsky. In 2021, a famous poet, prose writer, linguist and publicist Mikhail Pozdnyakov translated into Belarusian the four-volume novel-epic by Mukhtar Auezov «Abai's Way» on the initiative of the Embassy.

Abay's life, his inspiring poems and songs are inseparable from steppes and mountains, culture of Kazakhstan. «Қара сөз» - «Words of edification» Abay became a moral guide and part of the Kazakh national code. Songs and melodies written by him have been popular for the third century.
