Kazakh designers’ fashion show takes place in London

LONDON, 18 June 2022 – Leading designers from Kazakhstan presented their collections of clothing and modern national jewellery in the UK capital. The fashion show was hosted by Silk Road Fashion London led by Alma Farmer with the support of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the UK and Secretary of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Kazakhstan Dr Reza Tabrizi. The event marked the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence and 30 years of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom.

The show featured the collections of such Kazakh designers as Aidana Omarova, Assel Kenzhetayeva, Nurdos Aliaskarov, Anelya Tolegen, Zhadyra Dzhiengaziyeva and Meruert Shakerbayeva.

The event also included a screening of a documentary about Alla Ilchun by Berlin Irishev, who arrived from Paris as a special guest. Alla Ilchun was a legendary French model of Kazakh origin working for Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent houses in the last century and was also their ‘muse’ who had been inspiring famous designers for twenty years.

The guests noted that the collections presented at the show embody a subtle intertwinement of the glamour of the East and the style of Europe, and the modern designs encapsulate the centuries-old traditions of the Kazakh culture.

The Silk Road Fashion London brand led by its CEO Alma Farmer hosts annual fashion shows in London. It is gradually gaining recognition and contributing to the promotion of Eurasia’s cultural and historical traditions in European countries.
