Notice on Passport Validity Requirements for Entry into Kazakhstan
The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Malaysia informs travelers that Kazakhstan applies the standards and specifications of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) concerning machine-readable travel documents.
As a Contracting State to the Convention on International Civil Aviation and a Member State of ICAO, the Republic of Kazakhstan follows the requirements set out in ICAO Annex 9 (Facilitation), including Standard 3.4, as well as the specifications contained in ICAO Doc 9303.
In this regard, passports whose validity has been extended by means of endorsements, stamps, inserts, handwritten notes, or any other modifications are not recognized by the Republic of Kazakhstan as valid travel documents for entry into the country.
Travelers holding such passports may face restrictions when travelling to Kazakhstan, including possible refusal of acceptance by air carriers, border control authorities, or migration authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Embassy kindly advises all travelers to check in advance that their passports are valid, machine-readable, and fully compliant with international travel document standards before planning their trip to Kazakhstan.
