Possibilities of KLM flights resumption to Kazakhstan discussed in The Hague

The Hague, March 29, 2022 - Kazakh Ambassador to the Netherlands Askar Zhumagaliyev held a meeting with KLM Vice President for International Affairs and Corporate Legal Frank Prillevitz.

Ambassador Zhumagaliyev spoke about the high level of interaction between our countries, including the economic partnership and the Kingdom's leadership in the ranking of major investors in the domestic economy.

The interlocutors noted that the widespread removal of restrictive measures gives confidence in the restoration of the number of trips around the world. In this regard, the Kazakhstan’s diplomat drew attention to the tourist attractiveness of Kazakhstan.

For his part, KLM network director S. van Straten, who was present at the meeting, informed about the company's plans to reach the pre-pandemic level in the number of routes and flights.

Separately, the parties discussed the possibility of resumption of direct flights between the Netherlands and Kazakhstan and alternative air corridors in light of the geopolitical instability.

As a result of negotiations, an agreement was reached to continue consultations about the implementation of KLM flights to Kazakhstan.

For reference: KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is the flagship of Netherlands aviation. The KLM hub is located at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Founded in 1919, KLM is the oldest operating airline in the world. As of 2021, it employed 35,488 people and had a fleet of 110 aircraft (excluding subsidiaries). KLM operates scheduled passenger and cargo services on 145 routes. KLM was present in the Kazakh market from 2005 to 2017.
