
Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Netherlands Askar Zhumagaliyev met with Minister Plenipotentiary of Curaçao Carlson Manuel.
Ambassador and Minister Plenipotentiary discussed the prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of tourism, logistics and the oil refining industry.
They also exchanged views on the development of the energy sector. C. Manuel emphasized that renewable energy in Curaçao was the source for 34% of total energy consumption.
In turn, A. Zhumagaliyev highlighted the huge potential for nuclear power development in Kazakhstan as a clean and low-carbon source of energy. The state is the world's largest producer of uranium and has its own production for nuclear fuel components. Kazakhstan is currently considering the possibility of construction of a nuclear power plant.
In this context, Ambassador and Minister Plenipotentiary agreed to maintain close contact on issues of mutual interest.
Ambassador also informed C. Manuel about the main approaches of the country’s leadership towards building a New Kazakhstan in light of the consequences of the Tragic January, on planned political, socio-economic reforms and confirmed the state’s commitment to further democratic transformations.
Curaçao is in the Southern Caribbean Sea. Following a referendum, and as a result of constitutional change, Curaçao became a constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands on October 10, 2010.
