OPCW Director-General Fernando Arias awarded a Kazakhstan's 30th  Anniversary of Independence medal

The Hague, February 7, 2022 - Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Netherlands and Permanent Representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Askar Zhumagaliyev held a meeting with the Director General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Fernando Arias.

An official presentation of a jubilee medal to the Director-General in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Kazakhstan took place at the event.  Ambassador Zhumagaliyev noted the significant contribution of H.E. Mr. Fernando Arias to the work of the organization, which brings concrete results in the process of global disarmament.

In addition, Ambassador Zhumagaliyev informed the Director-General in detail about the January events that took place in Kazakhstan. In particular, reliable facts about the current situation and the measures taken by the government to stabilize the situation were brought to the F.Arias attention.

The Head of the OPCW was also acquainted with the key points from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev`s speeches and planned political and socio-economic reforms aimed at improving the welfare of the population of our country.

In turn, Director-General F.Arias expressed words of support to the government and the people of Kazakhstan.
