
Brussels, March 6-7, 2025 - Regular meetings of the Human Rights Dialogue and the Subcommittee on Justice and the Rule of Law “Republic of Kazakhstan - European Union” were held.
The Kazakhstani side was represented by officials from the General Prosecutor’s Office, Constitutional Court, Judicial Administration, National Security Committee, Anti-Corruption and Financial Monitoring Agencies, National Human Rights Center, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Labor and Social Protection, Culture and Information, Healthcare, Internal Affairs, National Economy, Justice, Digital Development, and Education.
The head of the Kazakhstani delegation, Deputy Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan, Mr. Galymzhan Koigeldiyev, emphasized the special significance of these meetings, as human life, rights, and freedoms are the fundamental values of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the discussions, Mr. Koigeldiyev outlined the ongoing reforms in Kazakhstan aimed at strengthening democracy and protecting human rights within the law enforcement and judicial systems.
The parties engaged in a dialogue on women’s and children’s rights, the development of civil society, the prevention of torture, and the fight against illegal migration, terrorism, drug-related crimes, the shadow economy, and corruption. They also discussed judicial and legal reforms and Kazakhstan’s accession to European conventions.
Additionally, there was an exchange of views on freedom of association, speech, religion, and peaceful assembly.
At the conclusion of the meetings, the parties outlined further steps for joint cooperation and signed the relevant Protocol.
