Cooperation on Migration and Citizen Mobility Discussed in Brussels

BRUSSELS, February 14, 2025 At the Headquarters of the European Commission, Margulan Baimukhan, Head of the Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the European Union, met with Alexander Winterstein, Head of the Cabinet of the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EU, including migration, border control, citizen mobility, emergency management and law enforcement cooperation, and exchanged views on topical issues.

M.Baimukhan informed his counterpart about the ongoing reforms in Kazakhstan and emphasized the country’s readiness to further deepen cooperation with the EU. He highlighted the importance of close collaboration and information exchange in these areas.

A.Winterstein expressed interest in developing cooperation with Kazakhstan in the field of migration policy, noting the country’s positive experience in ensuring sustainable socio-economic development.

The parties agreed to continue their dialogue and explore further prospects for strengthening joint cooperation in key areas.
