
Astana – Luxembourg, May 28, 2026 – One of the world’s leading cargo airlines, Luxembourg-based Cargolux Airlines International S.A., is returning to the Kazakhstan market and plans to operate up to 14 flights per week through Astana International Airport starting from June 1, 2026.
At the initial stage, flights will operate with technical stops for refueling and maintenance. In the future, the parties are considering the launch of full commercial cargo operations with cargo handling services at Astana Airport.
The project is aimed at strengthening transport connectivity, increasing cargo turnover, and enhancing Kazakhstan’s role along the Middle Corridor between Europe and Asia.
The development of international cargo air connectivity is in line with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to strengthen the country’s transit potential, develop the transport sector, and position Kazakhstan as a key logistics hub of Eurasia.
Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Belgium Roman Vassilenko noted that the return of Cargolux confirms Kazakhstan’s growing attractiveness as an important logistics and aviation hub between Europe and Asia.
President and CEO of Cargolux Richard Forson emphasized:
