Kazakh-Swiss Association “Birlik” Celebrates Its First Year Anniversary

Bern, May 31, 2021 – Exactly one year ago, with the active assistance of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Switzerland, the Kazakh-Swiss Association “Birlik” was created, which united the Kazakh diaspora living in this Alpine country.

During the year, the Association, together with the Embassy, ​​has implemented many interesting projects and attracted a large number of compatriots from all regions of the country. In particular, in July 2020, charitable assistance to Semey hospitals in the form of personal protective equipment was organized, in August 2020 there was the United for Health Scholarship Program for young doctors from Kazakhstan, in December 2020 – the action With Love from Switzerland on collection and purchase of New Year's gifts for disabled children in Aktobe, in March 2021 – lessons about the traditions of the celebration of “Nauryz Meiramy” for Kazakh children in Switzerland, in April 2021 – online Forum of Young Professionals in Europe.

The Association, together with the Embassy, ​​also held a number of cultural events, such as participation in the challenge for the performance of songs by the famous Kazakh composer Shamshi Kaldayakov, holding the Day of Dombry and Abai readings, online congratulations of Kazakh people on Nauryz Meiramy and others.

At the anniversary meeting of the Association at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Bern, the results of the past year were summed up and plans for the future were outlined.

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Switzerland Alibek Bakayev noted that the Embassy is always ready to provide assistance to the Association and thanked the Chairman Ruslan Tokbulat, and board members Saule Hofer, Nurgul Zhakipbay and Serik Tursyn for an active civic position and great enthusiasm for the development of Kazakh-Swiss cultural relations.
