The Federal State of Hessen, as a transport and financial center of Germany, acts as a bridge for business cooperation with Kazakhstan

Frankfurt am Main, April 2, 2025 - The Federal State of Hessen as a transport and financial center of Germany plays an important connecting role in the development of trade, economic and investment relations between the two countries.

This was confirmed by the large-scale forum “Kazakhstan Investment Day 2025” held in Frankfurt am Main with the participation of a representative Kazakh delegation headed by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar, who arrived in Germany.

The event was attended by around 200 people from the official, business and expert communities. The event was coorganised by the Eastern Committee of the German Economy and AKA-Bank.

The forum included panel discussions on “Kazakhstan as a market of opportunities - investments and financing opportunities” and “Supply of raw materials and logistics for the development of new markets” topics.

Speakers noted the German business community’s keen interest in further expanding business cooperation with Kazakhstan and its readiness to increase its presence in the local market.

At the same time, the federal state of Hessen, where such leading German financial institutions as Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, KfW and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange are concentrated, can serve as an important platform for finding potential partners and investors for the realization of joint projects.

During his stay in Frankfurt, Roman Sklyar also had meetings with Minister of Federal, European and International Affairs and Reducing Bureaucracy Manfred Pentz.

During the conversation, Minister Pentz informed about the decision taken by the Hessen government to send an economic delegation under his leadership to Kazakhstan in the coming months to discuss concrete steps to invest in promising and mutually beneficial projects.

The sides exchanged views on the state of trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Hessen as well as discussed, the prospects for their further development.

In addition, a meeting was held with the Co-Chairman of the Kazakh-German Business Council, Managing Director of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy Michael Harms, as well as a number of bilateral meetings with German companies.

Hessen is one of the most economically developed federal states in Germany, with a GDP of 370 billion euros in 2024, its contribution to the country's total economic potential is almost 9%. The main waterway, the Rhine River, runs through Hessen, and Frankfurt Airport is one of the largest and busiest airports in Europe. After the Ruhr, the Rhine-Main region has the highest industrial density in Germany, with a high proportion of the chemical-pharmaceutical and automotive industries.
