Kazakhstan and UN-Habitat Outline Plans for 2025

Addis Ababa, 16 January 2025 – An online meeting was held between representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). Participants included Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Kenya (concurrently) and Permanent Representative to the African Union B.Sadykov, Deputy Akim of Kyzylorda Region A.Zebeshev, Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan D.Temenov and, representing UN-Habitat, Deputy Executive Director M.Mlynár.

During the meeting, the parties discussed promising areas of cooperation for 2025. Particular attention was given to joint projects in sustainable urban development, infrastructure modernization, and the creation of comfortable and eco-friendly urban environments.

The parties emphasized the importance of implementing initiatives aimed at introducing innovative solutions, supporting environmentally sustainable projects, and exchanging experiences on urban adaptation to climate change.

It was agreed to conduct mutual visits, organize joint events, and develop a Memorandum of Cooperation between Kazakhstan and UN-Habitat.
